This will be my very first year teaching in my own classroom. I am an anxious ball of nerves and excitement! There is never enough time to prepare yourself, but I am doing my best :]! I have been in my classroom cleaning, organizing, and rearranging things to fit my style. I am almost ready to start decorating!! I am going for a jungle/safari theme, which I think my kiddos are going to LOVE! My desk arrangement will be groups, and each group will be named after a jungle/safari animal; the Lions, Elephants, Zebras, Tigers, etc. :]. My AMAZING dad is a very talented contractor, and is building me a reading hut for my classroom library (pictures to come). I can't wait for my students to see it, and fall in love with reading inside the little jungle hut. It will make reading so much fun! I also have another trick up my sleeve to motivate students to love reading; my dog, Takoda. We recently put our Koda butt through therapy dog training (the senior citizens just adore him), and his next step is to go through a reading program training called Tales With Waggin' Tails! My plan is for him to come to my classroom once a week, and students will rotate practicing their reading by reading to him for 15 minutes each. I have a feeling it will be a huge hit! I have so many ideas, plans, and aspirations for my classroom...I cannot wait for school to start, and for the learning adventures to begin! Until next time... ;]
